Co-Option for 2 Parish Councillors

Are you passionate about your community? Would you like to have a real say in how local issues are handled, from planning to local amenities and community events? 

Hinton St George Parish Council is currently looking for two enthusiastic and engaged residents to join our team. You don’t need any special experience – just an interest in your local area and a willingness to get involved.

What does a Parish Councillor do?

• Act as the eyes, ears, and voice of your local community
• Help shape local policies and services (e.g. footpaths, and open spaces)
• Represent the views of your neighbours in council decisions
• Attend regular council meetings, usually held on the 3rd Monday of the month (excluding August and December)

Am I eligible?

To apply for co-option as a Councillor, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, or an EU citizen
• Be a registered elector or have lived, worked, or owned property in the parish (or within 3 miles of it) for the past 12 months.

If you are ready to make a difference and give back to your community, please contact the Parish Clerk at clerk@hintonstgeorgeparishcouncil.gov.uk and tell us why you’re interested in the role and the skills and experience that you’ll bring to the Parish Council.

Applications should be submitted to the Clerk by 5pm on Wednesday 15th July 2026. Applicants may be invited for an interview with a few Councillors on Friday 17th July or Monday 20th July as part of the shortlisting process. 

Short-listed Applicants will be invited to attend the Parish Council meeting on Monday 20th July at 7:15pm and will engage with the Full Council, ahead of the vote to co-opt two new Councillors. The new Councillors will be appointed and asked to join the next Parish Council meeting on 21st September 2026.
